Keynote and Speaker Olympic Games Paris 2024

Olympic Games create myths and heroes, unforgettable victories and experiences. An entertaining look behind the scenes - not only of Paris 2024 and 1924.

The keynote shows the variety of stories written by athletes at the Olympics. I´ll take a deep dive into my own experiences, especially those that were not on TV.

  • Paris 2024 – unique from the start: For the first time, the opening ceremony will not take place in the Olympic stadium. The teams will present themselves in a water parade on the Seine - from Notre-Dame to the Eiffel Tower.

  • Paris 1924 – many premieres: The closing ceremony and the Olympic Village, both inventions 100 years ago. History was made by "Tarzan" Johnny Weissmüller, to this day the only athlete to win a medal in two sports on the same day - Olympic champion in swimming and bronze in water polo.

  • Olympics are changing - constantly: the medals and mascots, the flame and the torch relay - all unknown in Athens 1896. New in Paris 2024: Breaking, the street dancing.

  • Golden Slam & other legends: Unique until today, Steffi Graf in 1988 with the tennis Grand Slam plus Olympic victory. Other athletes no one knows make history, too, e.g. Kanaguri Shizo who crosses the finish line after 54 years in 1967 - in the marathon.

  • "Fly, albatross, fly": 40 years ago - in Los Angeles in 1984 – german TV reporter Jörg Wontorra cheered on the last meters. And I finished ... second in the 200-meter butterfly. The nickname has now even been immortalized on a postage stamp. Of course, I´ll reveal how this came about.
